In 2008, Park Soon-Ho, Chairman of Sejung Group, became Busan’s first Honor Society member. Twelve years later, three new members joined simultaneously, marking the beginning of the “Busan Honor 200 Era.”
With these additions, Busan now has 201 Honor members—ranking third in the nation after Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.
The Busan Community Chest of Korea announced that a joint induction ceremony (photo) was held at its headquarters, attended by No.199 Jung Chul-Soo, CEO of KC General Construction; No.200 Ha Maeng-Sung, Chairman of Hyundai Fitting; and No.201 Song Hae-Hwa, CEO of Ocean Entec Co., Ltd. Also present were Shin Jung-Taek, Chairman of the Busan Community Chest of Korea; Jung Sung-Woo, President of the Busan Honor Club and CEO of GMAX; and Lee Jung-Hwa, President of W Honor, the women’s Honor members’ group in Busan and CEO of Bomyeong PNT.
No.199 member Jung Chul-Soo said, “Running a business has had its difficult moments, and I know many neighbors have been suffering even more due to COVID-19. I hope my small act of sharing can bring them a bit of strength.”
No.200 member Ha Maeng-Sung remarked, “I’ve always believed that the more kindness and generosity we share, the greater our happiness grows. It’s an honor to become the 200th Honor member here in Busan, and I’ll continue to help make our city warmer through various acts of giving.”
No.201 member Song Hae-Hwa added, “I’m delighted to join the Honor Society, which symbolizes Busan’s culture of sharing. I’ll continue to work alongside other members to support underprivileged communities.”
Chairman Shin Jung-Taek of the Busan Community Chest of Korea said, “It’s deeply moving to witness this meaningful milestone of surpassing 200 Honor members in Busan. Together with all 201 members, we’ll continue striving to spread the spirit of sharing throughout the city.”
The Honor Society, launched in December 2007 by the Community Chest of Korea, is a prestigious club of major donors who pledge or contribute more than 100 million won—embodying the spirit of noblesse oblige and leading Korea’s culture of philanthropy.
